Maybe it's just the conjunction of all those fixes that got it running stable for me. Update: So this worked for a solid 10 hours into the game and now I cant even load a file without the game crashing. Recently found this post. Fortunately, WinDbg can handle it for you but you must configure it with the correct search path. I began seeing the freezing again, same as before.

Thanks. Update: I did get a crash when I went into Vault 112. Going to the Fallout3.exe in [C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 goty] and right clicking it, then selected properties. navigate here I applied this quick fix and the crashes went way.
On my notebook a kernel dump runs about 344MB and compressed it is just over 100MB.
