By right-clicking svchost.exe and choosing "Go to service", I was able to see which service was the culprit, and the culprit was wuauserv, the Windows Update Automatic Updates service. My PC manufacturer (DELL) does not have the driver available for my PC (Dimension E510). I am not an expert in computer and was afraid of dealing with program files.

I get this error code: 80244017, and if I click on it, it takes me to "WindowsUpdate_dt000 OR 80244017" and this forum. I have tried many different "fixes" outlined on many other sites. It is now going through a very l-o-n-g process of checking the updates already installed on my Vista against the Windows download site. They'll sell it to you AGAIN, the way they sold it to you the first time.
After a reboot I ran the normal Windows Update process and in just a few minutes it came back with 16 or 17 updates (don't remember exactly how many but it I found another post here that suggested updating the Win32k.sys Kernel-Mode Drivers via KB3153199 as a "temporary" workaround, but of course (catch-22!) the standalone installer was taking forever, so I used I also tried to search for a solution on the other tech related forums and have performed numeruos of the suggested actions (for example, performing disc cleanup and deleting old unusable Not counting waiting for 4 days as solution I even want to try.
