There been a significant decrease in the freezes. However, the past few days my machine has been crashing while shutting down. Only thing I've done is removed a stick of ram, and since then I've only had 5 freezes in about 43h, compare to 16 the 24 hours before that. You are my hero btw.Let's assume (just for now) that the third stick of ram is causing the problem.
