The upgrade freezes at a few points for hours at a time. you need to go buy it, or get ones from msdn.microsoft.com or technet. Note: You could always smooth the upgrade process by removing any apps that have compatibility problems, before you do the upgrade. Oh wait. Question - to carry out the procedure for upgrading as described in the main article, do I purchase the full package of Win 7 Ultimate, or just the Upgrade edition? It took over from there. I'll assume build 7100 is not supported by tech support, so I will not burden them.
Shame on Microsoft for refusing to let people upgrade from the RC when they block it with only a few keystrokes. Then try again. Important Notes There are a few important things to keep in mind when you are upgrading to the final version: The Windows 7 beta or RC releases were Ultimate edition, so One said you cannot upgrade from x64 to x86, and the other said you cannot upgrade from x86 to x64.
