System is Windows 7 Pro 64bit. So it is failing, too. if really needed, i can turn it on temporarily, so a full memory dump can be created. If you're getting BSOD, its most likely a driver or hardware (possibly faulty hardware) issue. http://scientificpages.net/random-bsod/random-bsod-0x0000004e.html An overclocked or misconfigured BIOS can cause all sorts of random issues, including BSODs. Which programs? The randomness of these errors really is a problem because I could not just start my PC in safe mode or change a driver and see if that fixes things... Memtest86

You can start removing sticks of memory and repeating the test to see if you can eventually figure out which stick has the problems.

You definitely want to make sure all your hardware is operating at stock settings - do not have anything over-clocked, over or under-voltaged, or at un-supported timings. the memory diagnostics identified one RAM module to be faulty, and succeeded with all the others.
