If you are installing a 3.5″ drive into a 5.25″ drive bay, you may need to add rails or a mounting bracket to make it fit. Why is it not showing up on my computer to be used? If so, then try manually booting from the IDE drive while the SATA is plugged in. For example, during the POST, can you press something like F8 to access a boot-device list to choose what to boot from? September 14, 2011 Dave If the hard drive is properly connected to the motherboard and it does not appear in the BIOS or does not load Windows, it's quite possible the Secondly, while working on the computer it sometimes makes the sound of powering off without actually powering off. Some move a drive like that and hope the software keeps running (from the old drive). Rebuilding a Relic for my Kids.

Still no match? Have you tried running just one for a while to see if that behavior persists? No. Some of them might show you a list of files that they claim they can recover, but when you buy the registration Key to Recover your Data...
I would post your findings on out forums, as we have other techs available there that can help you troubleshoot this issue. After formatting it, use Norton Ghost (or a similar program) to clone your boot drive's contents to the new drive.
Formatting could take an hour or more, depending on drive capacity. It had windows 2000 on it and i just want to save home movies on it.
