up vote 6 down vote favorite It seems pretty straightforward to dual boot those versions of Windows when the newest is installed after Windows XP. This will give you the least amount of headache and leave the windows install, and presumably your precious data, untouched. If you are more talented than I am, you might quickly figure out where you went wrong. XP sees it, assigns a drive letter ( c:) and throws the required boot files for XP on that stupid little 10MB partition. Make sure you have enough space on your hard drive for files you’ll be adding to each. I'm afraid to try to validate it as I still will use XP on the other machine.
